Dine Academy in the House
- 15 May 2017
Dine was started a couple of years ago by Sonia Tiatia when she saw a need for young people to gain skills and experience that would get them work. Originally run only in Wellington, Dine expanded to Auckland and now for the first time in Christchuch.
Dine Academy is a week-long boot camp for school children where they learn the soft and hard skills needed to be successful in the hospitality industry. At the end of the week the participants received the opportunity to work at an ANZ Premiership game, a Super Rugby Game and concert.
At the end of the program students are formally interviewed by the Vbase team and if successful are offered casual employment while they are at school. We are excited to say we now have a bunch bright eyed and bushy tailed excellently trained new recruits!
"DINE has boosted my confidence so much in serving, speaking, and just being around people. I have met 19 new friends my age who share my interests in hospitality, and I have had a job interview with Vbase, which is the biggest event management company around, and event management is exactly where I want my life to head."
