Following the events of 2011 and the subsequent impact on our
business, Vbase is now 100% solely governed and managed by
Christchurch City Council. The primary purpose of Vbase is to own,
manage and develop Christchurch's premier venues and to secure and
host events in these venues.
Prior to the February earthquake Vbase hosted more than 1,800
events annually across the four venues, employed over 250 full time
staff and injected over $60 million in direct visitor spending into
the local economy. With the impact on three of the four venues, we
have reviewed the direction of the business to better position the
company for the future.
Vbase will continue to focus on securing both national and
international meetings and events to benefit the business tourism
sector. Additionally, our resolve to identify new opportunities to
maximise and enhance our position will benefit Christchurch and
Canterbury economically, socially and culturally.
